What people are saying...
Here’s what people have to say who have engaged our services, been in the audience at speaking engagements, and read and used my book “power10” LEADERSHIP: How to Engage People and Get Results
It has been my pleasure to work with Linda Oien of businessPATHS for over 12 years. Initially, I contracted with her to facilitate strategic planning board retreats. It soon became apparent that she could help me with my internal leadership issues as well. Through consulting with Linda I have always gained a clearer understanding of the issues and received excellent practical advice. I have not taken her courses, but I would not hesitate to recommend them based on my personal experience with her leadership knowledge and skills.
To remain a leading, multi-state enterprise, we asked Ms. Oien to facilitate a pragmatic approach to strategic visioning and outcomes management. She did not disappoint. An accomplished consultant and author, Ms. Oien brought with her both depth of skill and breadth of knowledge, helping us synthesize complex and seemingly divergent information into strategy, action and accountability. I highly recommend Ms. Oien’s suite of materials and services for company leaders who want to succeed in today’s ever-changing business world.
Linda Oien of businessPATHS assisted my Executive Women’s organization with strategic planning, problem solving exercises and communication exercises. In addition, Linda shared her leadership building knowledge with a group of professionals in my industry where she successfully led individuals through team building exercises. She spent time with us identifying our critical needs of developing employees to their fullest potential and how to communicate more effectively with them and our customers. Her guidance has directly improved my leadership skills in my personal career and as a leader in my volunteer organizations. I continue to follow her weekly blogs and share this information with all of the managers at my company to continue to build a high performing team.
One of the finest learning experiences in which I’ve ever participated (and believe me with 20+ years in education, I’ve participated in lots of workshops, planning sessions, etc.)
I have attended and participated in a number of facilitated planning sessions over the years, and this was the best.
What I liked most- Hearing honestly from people what is working and not working for them, and people revealing what they need to get their job done better and to feel more confident about themselves.
Linda is a great motivational speaker with great ability to reinforce the importance of a leader to communicate clear and concise objectives and to develop individuals to allow them to successfully achieve their objectives.
The greatest concept I got from Linda’s presentation was the analogy of the boat. When she asked us to imagine our organizations (big and small) with all of its employees rowing in the same direction, it really made me think.
The overall message I took away from Linda’s presentation was the clear difference between a manager and leader. I love the phrases “doing things right” and “doing the right things.” Both contain the same words but mean different things.
Book: “power10” LEADERSHIP: How to Engage People and Get Results
Review: 5 Stars out of 5 – Business managers will feel at home with this book…Oien gets the metaphor right and the process, too…The workplace has become increasingly corporate. If statistics can be believed, workers are not happy about it. This book provides effective tools for getting them all onboard and rowing together.
‘Powerful 10’ Feedback – If I were to describe “power10” LEADERSHIP in one word it would be ‘PRACTICAL’. I can go to the chapters that apply and at any given time, focus and take action. Here are the ‘powerful 10’ things I like about this book: 1. It provides a path to success 2. It has practical applications 3. It sets accountable directions 4. The assessments provide desired results 5. It is organized for easy use 6. The ‘Insights and Tips’ at the end of each chapter are a quick refresher 7. It communicates in a language I can understand and use with others 8. It encourages me…knowing I have the right tools to move forward with 9. The glossary itself is a wealth of information and education 10. It was written by a wise person who has practical experience and who has actually used these tools with businesses that she has counseled to success. This book should be in the hands of everyone who is leading a team or organization.
If you are interested in leading your team to greatness, this book is for you!- Linda Oien captures the essence of leadership, and makes it available to everyone who is interested in being their best. Through the process she shares, and the work she guides you through, you will be able to determine leadership areas needing improvement, what to do to up-level those areas, and specific actions you can take to deliver peak performance for you and your team. If you want your organization to outperform itself, “power10” LEADERSHIP is for you.
This book will not collect dust in your bookcase. In the hectic pace of today’s work environments, day-to-day activities can often distract from even the most successful leader’s objectives and strategic outlook. Linda’s practical guide to leadership and obtaining results puts leaders back on course. It is an effective “coach” that allows leadership to consistently focus (and re-focus) on what needs to be done and the steps to get there. I appreciated the emphasis on team development and building a healthy organization because at the end of the day, every contribution from every team member makes a difference in an organization’s success.
